I have had a life-long interest in warfare, in particular the Second World War and post WW2 period. I have read very widely on the subject and travelled widely throughout Europe to many of the WW2 battlefields and areas of interest. This knowledge is useful for creating realistic battle scenarios, architectural modelling and the development of good game artificial intelligence and level layouts.
I have had a life-long interest in military history and have been a prolific reader on the subject. I have been particularly interested in 20th Century warfare and especially the Second World War.
Throughout my career I have been able to draw upon my extensive knowledge of warfare to develop and enhance the A.I. of the combat games I have worked on; primarily Without Warning and Dogs of War.
I made a tour of many German WW2 sites in 1992 including the area of the Ardennes offensive, Dachau, Berchtesgaden and Munich. I had the opportunity to see the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam in 2002. I toured the area of Eifel in Germany in 1992 which is where the 'Battle of the Bulge' began. Dachau was the first concentration camp created in Nazi Germany and acted as the template for all future concentration camps. Berchtesgaden is a beautiful area of southern Bavaria and the setting for the house where Hitler spent much of World War 2, the Berghof. The Anne Frank house is where Anne Frank was hidden from the Germans and where she wrote her famous diary.
